The Flats – After opening the dual season at UCF last weekend, Georgia Tech women’s tennis returns to the courts in Charlottesville this weekend for the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Yellow Jackets will compete for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships along with Wisconsin, Texas Tech and host Virginia. The first round matches will be played on Friday, followed by the championship match and repechage match on Saturday.

Four teams will head to Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend for the ITA Kickoff Weekend to compete for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be held in Seattle, February 9-12, 2024. Georgia Tech begins play Friday afternoon against No. 24 University of Wisconsin. The Jackets will play either Texas Tech or Virginia on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are looking to bounce back from a 4-0 decision loss to UCF last weekend.
Wisconsin enters the weekend with two wins against James Madison and Northern Illinois to open the dual season. In the latest ITA weekly rankings, the Badgers are ranked 24th. Last weekend, Maria Sholokhova led the team to two wins from the No. 1 singles spot, while Tsai Xinyu and Alina Mukortova took the No. 1 doubles spot. Last season, UW went 20-7 overall and he went 8-3 in Big Ten play.
Georgia Tech will play host Virginia Tech or Texas Tech on Saturday. The Cavaliers improved to 4-0 on the season in two doubleheader sweeps to open the season, and moved up to No. 11 in last week’s ITA Coaches Poll. Texas Tech finished tied for fifth in the Big 12 last year and is making its 11th appearance.th-Direct participation in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders opened the spring dual season with a 6-1 win over Liberty last weekend.
Georgia Tech and Wisconsin have met four times in program history, with the Yellow Jackets owning a 4-0 record. The teams have met on neutral ground three of the last four times, with the last meeting taking place on January 25, 2020, also at ITA Kickoff Weekend in South Carolina. A familiar foe, the University of Virginia, leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech with a 28-17 record and is tied at 1-1 against Texas Tech.
