The film is called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble and is scheduled for release in 2025. Prior to this, three standalone films will be released: Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Pinocchio Unstringed.
What you can expect from Pooniverse
The Pooniverse looks similar to Marvel’s Avengers multiverse, except with a more eerie tone and colder characters. According to Collider, Pooniverse will be directed by Reese Flake-Waterfield, producer and director of Jagged Edge. Follow the monsters who gather to bring chaos to the world. This is a rare horror team-up that shows what can be accomplished by working together rather than fighting, unlike previous crossovers like Freddy vs. Freddy. Jason or Alien vs. Predator.
“We are heavily influenced by ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ and ‘The Avengers,'” Waterfeed said in an official statement, as reported by Collider. I would love to see a horror movie where a group of villains work together to hunt down survivors. We have some great set pieces and sequences in mind that we think will really shock people. All of the movies we’re currently working on as standalones are building towards Pooniverse: Monsters Assemble. ”
Learn more about the Pooniverse cast
According to Collider, Scott Chambers, one of the producers of Jagged Edge, will reprise his role as Christopher Robin in Pooniverse. Roxanne McKee plays Xana, Megan Practio plays Wendy Darling, and Louis Santer plays Tiger.
Director Chambers commented that the film takes inspiration from the MCU, working to develop hidden Easter eggs in each film that add to the chaotic conflict.
According to the same media report, director Chambers said, “Similar to “The Avengers,” Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, the Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, and Tinkerbell all have powers. “It depicts how they can cause havoc when combined.”
He added, “We’ve got a bigger budget on this thing and we’re excited to see what the future holds. If you look at the standalone movies, you’ll see easter eggs hinting at crossovers. Some people don’t make eye contact, which can lead to carnage within the group in an epic monster-versus-monster sequence.”
