The Ukrainian military is currently unable to confirm that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the downed Russian troops. IL-76 military transport aircraft Armed Forces Spokesman Bohdan Senik told NV on the morning of January 24th.
Ukrainian media reported that the Il-76 was probably carrying missiles to Russia’s S-300 complex when it was shot down by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Information regarding the Russian IL-76 incident is still being clarified, he added.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims there were 65 Ukrainian prisoners on board who were to be exchanged. NV has contacted the military for comment.
“There is no information regarding different types of reporting, including fake news. At the moment everything is being checked and clarified,” Senik said.
NV also contacted representatives of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) for comment, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
