General Von Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Minister of Defense of Vietnam and Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), agreed to continue to strengthen military cooperation. The October 17 meeting took place in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi during Pisen’s official visit.
According to the RCAF, the visit was aimed at deepening the traditional relationship between the two countries’ militaries, which have at times shared pain and joy.
“At this time, we intend to continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship, fraternity, solidarity and cooperation between our two militaries. This will equally contribute to maintaining peace and stability, ensuring the development of both countries and ASEAN as a whole. ” he said.
He added that the RCAF will continue to implement the Comprehensive Cooperation Protocol signed by the defense ministers of both countries. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) includes people-to-people exchanges at all levels, as well as personnel training, information sharing, natural disaster relief cooperation, and border demarcation through border markings.
Mr. Cuong described the meeting as an opportunity to continue to strengthen the close cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam as good neighbors.
He noted that both countries take the position of not allowing foreign hostile forces to use their territory to influence the interests of other countries, and will continue to strengthen and build relations and trust. He expressed his determination.
“Therefore, it remains essential to continue strengthening military cooperation. This cooperation is the cornerstone of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Cambodia,” he added.
Pisen said the two sides also discussed tripartite cooperation among Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. On December 12, the defense ministers of the three countries will meet in the Emerald Triangle region, and a joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise will be held in Vietnam.
Yang Peo, Director-General of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said that since Cambodia and Vietnam share a border, strengthening security cooperation is essential to combat cross-border crimes such as the transportation of contraband and human and drug trafficking. I explained that there is.
