The flat mule shoe trend is definitely spring’s chicest

As a fashion editor, nothing intrigues me more than the whisper of a new shoe trend. So when I spotted a new season style that stole fashion’s hearts, I couldn’t help but shout about it.

Along with ballet flats and Mary Janes, flat mules are shaping up to be one of this season’s biggest shoe trends. With a sleek silhouette that covers the toes and tapers to reveal the heel, this on-trend shoe combines the elegance of a ballet flat with the relaxed energy of a slip-on sandal.

Established as a in fashion people’s wardrobes, these luxurious slippers have become an essential part of elegant spring styling. While it’s too cold to wear sandals and too hot to wear boots, this closed-toe shoe trend is enjoying its time in the sun.

Flat mule shoes featured prominently on the Spring/Summer 2024 runways, seen in the runway shows of Altuzarra, Kalven, and Yudon Choi, among others. Styled with dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts, the SS24 runway proved the flowering of shoe trends. I also noticed it appearing on the feeds of French and Scandinavian fashion people. In other words, it is only a matter of time before it becomes popular in the UK.

Already flying off the runways this spring, this trendy shoe is now available at many of my high street and designer brands. From H&M’s event shoes to Manolo Blahnik’s chicest styles, read on to see what flat mule shoes we’re eyeing right now.
