The Los Angeles Angels on Sunday returned left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers to their expanded roster and also recalled infielder Charles LeBlanc.
Major league rosters could expand to two players starting Sunday and for the remainder of the regular season.
The 25-year-old Detmers was demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake in June after opening the season with a 3-6 record and a 6.14 ERA in 12 starts. A former first-round draft pick, Detmers threw a no-hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays in May 2022 in his 11th career start.
Detmers got off to a slow start in Salt Lake after being demoted, but he has allowed just three runs and struck out 29 batters in his last three games.
The Angels are expected to go with a six-man rotation, according to manager Ron Washington, and Detmers is expected to pitch Tuesday at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detmers has started 70 games in four major league seasons, compiling a 15-25 record with a 4.68 ERA.
The Angels started left-hander Sam Aldeguelli in his major league debut on Friday, while promising right-hander Cayden Dana was scheduled to make his major league debut on Sunday.
The 28-year-old LeBlanc appeared in two games for the Angels earlier this season, going 1-for-6, but is batting .259 with four home runs and 11 RBIs for his career and is playing in 48 games for the Miami Marlins in 2022.
