Three days before everyone in the region looks up to the skies for a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse, there will be a different scene in the skies above Kingston.
Two Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) helicopters, a CH-147F Chinook and a CH-146F Griffon, will fly over the city of Kingston and the Canadian Forces Base Kingston on Friday, April 5, 2024, according to reports. Release from the Department of Defense/Canadian Armed Forces.
“Due to the frequency of their flights between 9am and 3pm, helicopters can make unfamiliar noises and attract public attention. The purpose of these flights is to train cadets at the Royal Military Academy. “Canada,” the release reads.
“Flight operations conducted by the Royal Canadian Air Force are carefully planned and tightly controlled with public safety in mind, and are subject to weather and flight conditions.”
