Algiers – Algeria, May 8, 2024 – In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense (MDN) revealed the operational report of the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) for the period from May 1 to May 7.
MDN announced that during an operation carried out by the People’s National Army in Borj Bazi Mokhtar, the terrorist known as D. Omar was successfully eliminated and an automatic pistol and ammunition were also recovered.
Continuing its counterterrorism efforts, ANP forces achieved 21 arrests on suspicion of supporting terrorist groups during the same period. In addition, seven hideouts used by terrorists were discovered and nine homemade bombs were seized in the Boumerdes department.
Additionally, ANP forces arrested 27 drug traffickers and thwarted an attempt to smuggle 182 kilograms of processed cannabis in the border area with Morocco.
As the same source highlighted, these operations were carried out in cooperation with various security agencies and also led to the seizure of 117 grams of cocaine and 36,526 psychotropic tablets.
