Montreal police say they are investigating a case of assault with a weapon after a man was found with wounds to his upper body in the Lachine neighbourhood on Saturday morning.
Police spokeswoman Officer Caroline Chevrefis said a 911 call was made at about 9:15 a.m. to report someone had been injured by a sharp object.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 30-year-old man injured on Camille Street near Richmond Street in Racine.
“He was conscious and had suffered injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object,” Chevrefis said, adding that the man was taken to hospital in critical condition.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown at this time,” Chevrefill said.
Police have set up a secure scene permit for investigators and crime scene technicians, she said, adding that the investigation is continuing.
