Three affiliated minor league baseball teams will collaborate with local independent musicians to create a “capsule collection.” The collaboration aims to highlight the team’s connection to its local community, which Minor League Baseball Branding specializes in. In its early stages, just announced, the capsule collection combines design elements from baseball teams and rock bands to create a unique fusion of his branding.
“From a process standpoint, we talked about what the team likes, we talked with the musicians about what their passions are, what their color schemes are, what they like,” said Official League founder Alan・Miller said. Program organizing partner. “As part of the collection, there is meaning behind every detail.”
The program pairs the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, or the WooSox to their friends, with Dinosaur Jr., a Massachusetts-based alternative rocker celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album Where You Been. Become.
Double A Leading Fightin’ Phils will partner with Mount Joy, a Philadelphia-based folk-rock band best known for their 2016 song “Silver Lining.”
And in Charleston, South Carolina, the Single-A Charleston Riverdogs faced Band of Horses, a Charleston-based indie rock band currently on a national tour.
In most cases, the artwork was created in-house by the Official League with significant input from teams and bands. In the case of the Band of Horses and Riverdogs partnership in Charleston, percussionist Clayton Barrett, a fan of the team, created the artwork for that particular collaboration.
“We’ve been working with artists and teams, and the artists are big fans of their local minor league baseball teams,” Miller said. “When we started talking to these bands about how it might be a lot of fun to collaborate and do something with this team, both the team and the artists were on board right away.”
The gear will first be launched through the Official League and then available in the team stores of participating teams, with the ultimate goal of having teams wear the brand on the field.
“The jersey design is complete,” Miller said. “Celebrating our fans with on-field jerseys and these items will be an important part of us moving forward.”
Details of this program have not yet been announced, including more teams participating in future seasons and when gear will appear on the field, which will be determined on a team-by-team basis.
