Palat increased the lead to 4-0 with a rebound inside the left post near the end of the period. The goal was initially overlooked by officials, and play continued for about 20 seconds before Toronto’s Situation Room recognized the goal after reviewing replays.
Hughes made it 5-0 midway through the third period with a power-play goal on a five-hole pass from Stephen Nosen. Tatar ended the scoring by burying a rebound inside the right post with 5:54 remaining for his second goal.
