Greenbrier Shopping Center catches fire Wednesday morning
Greenbrier, Tenn.: (Smoky Barn News) – A fire broke out at a shopping center on Highway 41 in Greenbrier Wednesday morning, causing several hours of traffic delays.
The center is located at 2431 US-41 at Cuniff Dr. The first call to 911 occurred at 9:52 a.m.map
The fire prompted a multi-agency response, including the Greenbrier Fire Department and firefighters from Ridgetop, Millersville and Springfield, as well as the Whitehouse Area Volunteer Fire Department. Together they quickly extinguished the fire.
Firefighters aggressively extinguished the fire, which started on the far left of the center of the lot, which is used as a warehouse. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent businesses. Fortunately, the end section had its own power service, so if power to the end unit was cut off, adjacent businesses were not affected. Firefighters call this a “proper stop.”
Highway 41 was closed for more than 30 minutes as authorities opened two lanes. 41 was fully reopened around noon.
Regarding the cause of the fire, Greenbrier Fire Department Chief Kyle Hamill said investigators will look into whether a forklift may have played a role, but it’s too early to tell. Chief Hamill says there is nothing suspicious about the fire at this time, but the fire remains under investigation.
Chief Hamill said he would like to thank all the fire departments that responded. “All of the departments that responded were a huge help to us today, including tremendous assistance from the Greenbrier Police Department, Robertson County EMS, and Robertson County Emergency Management Agency. Thank you so much, everyone. Thank you!”
