On January 26, the bodies and ashes of 77 fallen Ukrainian defenders were brought back to Ukraine. These will be handed over to forensic experts for identification.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will further ensure that repatriated bodies and remains are transported to designated government specialized institutions and transferred to law enforcement agencies and forensic experts for identification.
The fallen garrison was recovered thanks to the cooperation of the Joint Center of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces and the State Emergency Service of the border Sumy Oblast. Security Service and other representatives of the institutions of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.
